John Gossart is the cofounder and COO of Fintech startup Goodworld (www.goodworldnow.com), named one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies and a Top 25 veteran founded company. Prior to GoodWorld, John launched smart cities startup RideScout with three other veterans, and the company was acquired by Daimler-Mercedes in 2015.
Before becoming an entrepreneur, John served 22 years in military and government, work that took him to various locations across east Africa, Yemen, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Asia and Europe, most recently serving as a deputy director of special operations and counterterrorism policy in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
Schooled at Boston College and Georgetown University, he has served as an Assistant Professor at West Point and is a current Adjunct Professor of Public Policy at Georgetown.
Outside the startup world, John's former indie rock band StoneDriver (www.stonedriver.com) released a studio album "Rocks" (available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Tidal, etc) and was named City Paper's Best DC Band.
