About Allan Christensen
Allan Christensen is COO at Doist, the fully distributed software company best known for the productivity app Todoist and the team communication tool Twist. He works from Copenhagen, where he is part of a leadership team running a company without a central office.
Christensen's path into tech was unusual. He trained as a pipe organ builder in the family business his grandfather founded in 1896, then moved from Denmark to Santa Cruz in 2000 to keep working in the craft. He later returned to school for an engineering degree, completed an MBA in Berlin, and met Doist founder Amir Salihefendic through the Start-Up Chile community in Santiago.
At Doist his focus is on the operating systems that make remote work durable at scale, including hiring, onboarding, and the asynchronous communication practices the company is known for.
