About Stephan Jacob
Stephan Jacob is co-founder and COO of Cotopaxi, the direct-to-consumer outdoor brand he started with Davis Smith after the two met at Wharton. Cotopaxi is a certified B Corp that ties a humanitarian mission to its commercial model, donating a portion of revenue to programs fighting poverty in the developing world. Jacob helped scale the company past $100M in revenue while managing a CEO transition and keeping sustainability central to product development.
Before Cotopaxi, Jacob raised venture funding and started Cambrelle in Philadelphia, then exited the business in 2013 around the same time Smith was returning from running baby.com.br in Brazil. Earlier in his career he worked for a nonprofit in Indonesia focused on eliminating child labor, an experience he credits as shaping how he thinks about combining entrepreneurship with social impact.
